softie fun

Although softies can be a challenge to make, I was really excited to make this little guy for Angela and her soon to come baby. This picture doesn't do it justice, but this orange fabric is fab. I've been hoarding it for years (literally), which I have a habit of doing when I find fabric or paper that I like. It's nice to finally put it to good use so it isn't sitting on a shelf somewhere unappreciated. And don't you worry - I still have some left for another project!

What are your favorite baby shower gifts to give and/or get?

Welcome back to blogging, Karla! I've missed seeing your fun and inspiring creations. The softie is precious...anything handmade with love is always the best gift!

I love making little baby clothes so I grab any chance I get to do that. I haven't taken the time to do much of that lately. I think that's one thing I'll like about being a grandma in the future.

You have got to be the most talented person I have ever met. I tried to make a stuffed animal once...it was supposed to be a lizard but ended up looking like it used to be a lizard before a semi ran it over. :) That little elephant is so cute! I definately think the best baby shower gifts are the ones that are homemade or the ones that have the most thought put into them if the giver isn't as talented as you!

I really like to give handmade hoodie towels. They are great and children love them, they grow into them and last a long time. Very simple to make and inexpensive...I can show you how if you would like, if you don't already know how!!!

You know I LOVE the elephant! And I feel even more special that you used hoarded fabric! It was so fun to see you and Jeff while you guys were down.

Great use of the fabric! I love receiving handmade gifts at showers the best, like the baby quilts my Mom made for my boys.
