but I just wanted to mention Pi Day, one of my favorite days of the year (I posted about it here last year). As always, we celebrated with yummy pies, although a Saturday evening activity prompted us to move the festivities to Pi Day Eve (aka March 13). The classics returned (key lime, chocolate, and asphalt [aka mint chip ice cream and oreo]), and a delicious Raspberry Custard Pie, like the one pictured above, made its Pi Day debut. The one I made was definitely not as pretty, but tasty none the less. You can get the recipe here (note: I used a Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust instead of the Pate Brisee).
Do you celebrate Pi Day?

This is actually the first year I remember hearing about it. And that was just because James really wanted to take a pie to school to celebrate. He made a banana cream pie from scratch and as usual it was delicious.
I can't say I've ever celebrated pi day, but I may have to start. It is a fun idea, and a good excuse to eat pies! Remember all the pies we made for the pie-oneer contest back in the day? Did you resurrect any of those winning recipes for your celebration???
Mmmm pie. Pi Day is an awesome holiday.
Karla, Tyler and I both looked at the calendar on 3/14 and said, "Pie Day." We smiled and missed you and Jeff.
