Washington's Birthday

Do you do anything to celebrate President's Day (which in fact is technically titled "Washington's Birthday")? Neither did I until this year. First, I studied the Constitution (and PS - Wikipedia is an AWESOME resource - great explanations for those tricky to understand articles and clauses). I still have a few Amendments to go through, but I'm glad I took the opportunity to read up.

Also, I decided to follow Martha's idea and make one of Washington's and Lincoln's favorites - hoecakes (farmers used to actually make them on their hoes!). Let me tell you - DELISH! Highly recommended with butter and honey. Next year I think I'll incorporate a cherry dessert...

And check out this other cute idea from that clever Martha.

Very cool!!! So appropriate, too! :-) And what a great picture - you manage to make a stack of hoecakes a work of art! :-)

i've never had a president's day tradition, but I think that the reading the constitution is a fabulous idea. And some day I'll make my sister-in-law's cake...

I do love Washington's Birthday. It's actually the same day as my brother's b-day so I never forget it. Next year I'll have to make those hotcakes for Barty. I LOVE your bag and apron you made. You are so crafty, Karla.
