not forgotten

Yes, here I am, back to blogging. Life has definitely been hectic in my neck of the woods - getting ready for Christmas, directing our ward choir, helping plan a wedding open house, getting acquainted with my new camera (yipee!), prepping for a trip to Philly and DC (double yipee!), not to mention a few crafting projects. Busy, busy, busy! And too much to write about all in one post. Instead of expounding on my life in it's entirety, I'll share a few of my craft projects from the past few months.

Oh, how I love flowers! Fresh ones, printed ones, and even fabric ones! I've been trying to design a little pattern for these babies, but it still needs some work. I wear the little green one in my hair (attached with a bobby pin) and the bigger one is for a bag I've started making.

One of my new favorites in gift giving - handbound journals. A great place to record random thoughts, spiritual insights, shopping lists, or the cute things your little one does that you don't want to forget. Plus, it's a good excuse to use some of the stacks and stacks of beautiful paper I collect but never seem to get around to using.

And last, but certainly not least, is this darling little elephant! I've unsuccessfully searched for a free elephant pattern on the internet for quite sometime, so I finally broke down and bought this little kit for under $14 on Amazon. I did make some alterations to the original pattern, including the little tuft on the tail in the back, and was quite pleased with the results. What do you think?

Such darling creations...especially that little elephant. Congrats on the new camera--I know you've been wanting one for a while. What type did you end up getting?

Karla-
Why didn't you bust out all these amazing talents when we lived together so that I could have taken advantage of them! j/k Way to go-love them.

Karla you are freakin' amazing! You've got some serious talent. You've come a long way from your old sewing buttercup pants for girls camp days:) Actually, those were really awesome too, especially considering the fact that you didn't use a pattern. Sadly, my sewing skills have not progressed. My hubby is a MUCH better sewer than me. That's so cool you're the choir director, by the way. Can't imagine anyone better for the job. How's your bass section?:)

I think you've done incredibly well--not only on the crafting, but on the photography as well.

Love, love love the elephant! I made a stuffed elephant once, and I used a pattern for a pig on marthastewart.com but altered it a little to be a elephant. Here's the link

The flowers are great! What are you going to do with the elephant? It looks professional. You should sell stuff online. :) Oh and Kyle really wants to see pictures from your Philadelphia trip!

Karla-

Wow- I am truly amazed at how cute all of this stuff is. You're are so talented. I echo Amanda when I say where was all this stuff growing up? :) We could have been in style with cute stuff playing Pearl, Vinny, Janet and Sexy. Do you sell all this stuff? It's fantastic!

I love everything but especially the elephant! It just looks so Karlaesque - and I hope that doesn't come across the wrong way!

Drew wants to know if you can make a hippo. Drew loves hippos, he is always really excited to see the hippo at the zoo. (I don't really get it.)

I'm glad you are using your mega-skillz to promote the Republican Party. I also want you to know that I met a girl in the gym today who talked like you and it made me miss you. I wish I could see you this Christmas. If you do come to SLC give us a holla.
